Cawl, coracles and choirs are just some of the attractions on the menu at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on St David’s Day.
It is FREE entry for all on March 1st in honour of our patron saint and there’s plenty to see and do – you can even try your hand at playing the national instrument of Wales: the harp.
Local farmer Meirion Owen and his world-famous Quack Pack will be in action on Millennium Lawn throughout the day, with shows at 12 noon, 1, 2 and 3pm, while there will be coracle demonstrations on the Garden’s lakes.
In the stunning surrounds of Lord Foster’s Great Glasshouse there is an equally stunning line-up of musical talent with all-day entertainment on the cards plus a strongly-Welsh-flavoured Food and Craft Fair – and make sure you take advantage of the traditional Welsh dish of cawl, which will be on sale from the Med Cafe, in the Glasshouse.
Cor Persain are the first choir in action at 11.30, followed by The Voices Community Choir from 12.30pm, Goodness Gracious Glee at 2pm and harpist Shelley Fairplay at 3pm. Earlier in the day, Shelley will taking a ‘hands-on harps’ workshop in the gallery (from 12 noon).
Popular local fiddle-and-squeezebox folk duo Fiddlebox will be providing their walkabout musical accompaniment to the day’s events and there will be family activities from 12 noon, too.
