Plaid Westminster Candidate Vaughan Williams at Gower Sea Salt

On Sunday 15th March, Vaughan Williams visited Halen Gwyr, Gower Sea Salt who are a new business set up locally in Delta Lakes, Llanelli.

Hannah Lowe from Halen Gwyr, Gower Sea Salt said:

“Halen Gwyr was started in December 2014 by two young sisters, who a couple of years ago were walking their dog at Port Eynon where we saw the reins of the old Salt House and read up about them. Fascinated by its history we collected a couple of litres of sea water and tried making salt at Home. After a number of attempts we researched how many companies were producing sea salt in the U.K and were extremely surprised that there were only four. Seeing a gap in the market we decided to go into production.

“We started with a business plan and looked for suitable equipment and premises. we moved into delta lakes in Llanelli in December and started production mid January 2015. In the future we would like to build premises in Port Eynon so we could manufacture sea salt where it all began on Gower many centuries ago.”

“Today we welcomed Plaid Cymru candidate for Llanelli Vaughan Williams to Halen Gwyr. We were delighted that he had taken time out of his busy schedule especially as it was mothering Sunday. After a brief tour during which Vaughan asked many questions, about Halen Gwyr and how we produce sea salt we would welcome another visit in the future. We believe Vaughan would make an excellent candidate for Llanelli.”

Vaughan Williams, Plaid Llanelli Westminster Candidate added:
“I was delighted to visit Halen Gwyr in Delta Lakes. It’s refreshing and encouraging to see such a great success story locally. Small businesses are the backbone of the Welsh economy and we believe everything should be done to aid such businesses. I’d like to wish Halen Gwyr all the best and I am excited about their ambitious plans for the future.”
