Llanelli Assembly Member Keith Davies and Member of Parliament Nia Griffith will host a local health awareness morning this Friday (27th March) in Llanelli’s St Elli Centre.
Residents can drop in to meet a number of organisations on hand who are offering interactive health advice and support.
Tenovus Cancer Care, The Stroke Association, and Hywel Dda CHC will set up interactive stalls to engage with local residents. They will offer health checks, risk assessments and tailored advice in the latest event organised by the Llanelli AM and MP.
Keith Davies AM said:
“Health issues form a large part of my postbag, it is one of the single biggest issues that people write to me about. Whether on personal issues they have encountered with services or seeking advice and support.”
“I have previously organised events in Llanelli town centre on issues such as money and skills & getting ready for winter. This time I felt it important to host a morning where people can drop-in to receive advice, but also to genuinely engage with local organisations and use the interactive services they offer for various individual health checks and tailored support.”
“The Welsh Government launched a Public Health consultation late last year; focusing on prudent healthcare, population health and prevention as central characteristics of our agenda in Wales. In this context I feel it is particularly important to take this conversation to a local level and raise awareness in Llanelli.”
Nia Griffith MP said:
“This advice morning is about giving people the opportunity to drop-in on their doorstep. We have created an interactive focus where organisations offer options for health checks and risk assessments as well as general advice.”
“It will also be an opportunity to discuss any local concerns people may have with Keith and me. I hope as many Llanelli residents as possible can call by the St Elli Centre to take advantage of this event.”
Between 10am and 2pm on Friday 27th March at the St Elli Centre, advice stalls will be available from Tenovus Cancer Care, the Stroke Association and Hywel Dda Community Health Council. There will be an opportunity to speak with Keith Davies AM & Nia Griffith MP on any issues connected with health or otherwise.
