The hunt is on for the views of people in Swansea on how we can get older happily.

A questionnaire is being launched online and a drop in day for those who want to share their views is taking place on Friday (27 March) in the city centre.

The Swansea Network 50+, which aims to promote the interests of older people, is working with the council and its partners TO organise the drop in and  survey to get everyone’s views on issues such AS how we increase people’s understanding of dementia or how we can reduce loneliness among older people.

Jane Harris, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Vulnerable People, said: “We all have to prepare for an ageing population, but we can’t do this without asking people what they think are the most important issues in keeping themselves, family and friends healthy, involved with the community and happy into older age.

“The Network 50+ needs everyone’s views, whatever their age, on the priorities for ageing well and  keeping well as we grow older in Swansea.

“Their views will feed directly into Swansea’s Ageing Well plan, part of a Wales-wide programme led by the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales’ office.”

The survey will inform the Network’s work in supporting the Swansea Council and Swansea Local Service Board TO develop an Ageing Well Plan as part of the Strategy for Older People.

The Ageing Well in Wales Programme is led by the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales’ office. The overall aim of the programme is to ensure that there is an improvement in the wellbeing of people aged 50+ in Wales.
