With lighter evenings on the horizon, women in Llanelli are being urged to put a spring in their step by entering Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life new 10k event.
This year, Cancer Research UK welcomes a new 10k event alongside the 5k event at Festival Fields on Sunday, June 14.
Katy Barley, Bath’s event manager said: “We’re urging women of all ages, shapes and sizes to take on Race for Life and sign up now. Up the challenge and declare war on cancer by taking part in the 10k event. 10k is a great step up from our 5k event but you can still run, walk or even dance your way around the course”.
“If you’re looking get fit and make the most of the lighter evenings on the way, Race for Life is the perfect challenge.
Last year, 2263 women took part in Race for Life in Llanelli and raised a fantastic £84,000. This year, organisers need 2850 women and girls to stride out to help raise over £100,000.
Money raised through Race for Life allows Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across Bath.
Cancer survival rates have doubled since the 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. But more funds are needed to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Katy added: Race for Life is to celebrate those who are with us, and also remember those who are not. The atmosphere is electric, our participants are so inspiring and we’re calling on the women of Llanelli to help make 2015 our best year yet.”
