You’ve seen every trailer, you’ve heard that creepy Pinocchio song but maybe you’ve thought to yourself “just who is Ultron?” Well have no fear because we’ve got you covered with our handy beginner’s guide.

Created by Roy Thomas John Buscema, Ultron first appeared in the comics in the 1968 Avengers issue #54. Although disguised as the Crimson Cowl.

In the story he is the creation of the original Ant-Man Hank Pym and soon after he is built he develops an irrational hatred for both his creator and all of humanity.

Daddy issues aside, Ultron is also the creator of the Vision who he originally tried to use as a weapon to destroy the Avengers but fails and gives it a new member. Great job.

He also begins continually upgrading himself until he gains the practically indestructible Adamantium body.

His powers include but are not limited to the standard superhuman strength, speed and durability, as well as flight, energy blasts and an ability to mesmerize and mind-control victims.

His biggest outing to date is the Age of Ultron storyline written by Brian  Michael Bendis; which sees Ultron take over the world and heroes from  across the Marvel universe traverse time and space to defeat him.

However in this year’s eagerly anticipated Avengers 2 movie, Ultron, being  played by James Spader, is getting something of a re-write.

In an interview Joss whedon talked about curbing hiss more excessive abilities to make the character fit better into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as changing Ultron’s origin so he’ll now be created by science bros Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.

So how will the new origin affect the creation of the Vision? Who, will also be appearing in the movie. Will he be Ultron’s creation or sibling? Do you think a new backstory just what the character needed?  Let us know in the comments.
