‘Every game is a must win for us’ says Edwards

Scarlets tighthead prop Peter Edwards says Scarlets’ remaining five games in the Guinness PRO12 are all must win games as Scarlets look to finish the in top six and qualify for the top European competition.

With injuries to both Samson Lee and Rhodri Jones Edwards has enjoyed regular game time with the Scarlets this season since making a return from London Welsh last summer.

Edwards said: “I enjoy every time I play. I’m playing a bit more than I thought I would be but it’s good to be a part of it and we’ll be looking to continue putting good performances together.”

Scarlets’ last outing at Parc y Scarlets was a 23-13 victory over Leinster which saw the West Wales side continue with their unbeaten home record in the PRO12 since losing to the Ospreys in December 2013.

Reflecting on the victory over the Irish province Edwards said: “It was a fantastic win. The boys really put a good shift in against a good Leinster side. I thought we played really well and executed really well. We stayed in the game for 80 minutes which was a good thing aswell.”

Looking forward to this Saturday’s clash against Edinburgh at the Parc Edwards went on to say: “We have five games left; we have to target every single one.

“We want to be playing the top European competition and playing your Leicester’s and your Toulon’s and so on. It’s going to be huge. I’m looking forward to it.

“We’re a point ahead of Edinburgh. We want to finish in the top six; we want to be in Europe. It’s a must win game. Every game is a must win now until the end of the season.

“If we control what we can control everything else is a plus. I’m looking forward to the challenge and protecting our home record.”
