Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood AM will today (Friday) tell party members and activists that the largest ever group of Plaid Cymru MPs must be returned to Westminster in order to put Wales in the strongest position possible.
Speaking during a rally to kick off the party’s general election campaign at the Ffos Las Racecourse, Leanne Wood will urge people to “make our mark for Wales” and spend the next six weeks working to secure the best ever result for the party.
Leanne Wood said:
“This election provides a great opportunity for people in Wales.
“Wales is strong when Plaid wins. The track-record of our representatives in Westminster proves that people in Wales can trust Plaid Cymru to champion Wales’ best interests every time.
“Street by street, conversation by conversation, we are taking our message to people in their communities.
“Wales must express and assert ourselves at the ballot box. I’m asking people to make their mark for Wales on May 7th so that we can end Wales’ third rate devolution arrangements and secure parity of resources with Scotland. So we can put an end to the harm of austerity and instead choose a path of financial responsibility based on investment and equality.
“Our own fate is now in our own hands. I call upon the people in Wales at this election to seize the unprecedented opportunity to make Wales matter after the next election.
“Plaid Cymru will not support the politics of austerity whether implemented by Tories or by Labour.
“Plaid Cymru is ready to work for Wales every day and we ask people to give us the strongest mandate yet to do so.”
