APPLICATION forms are now available for the Swansea Special Festival 2015.

The event, which runs from June 30 to July 3, includes a range of sporting competitions and social events for adults and children with learning difficulties.

The athletics competition being held at Swansea University’s sports village at Sketty Lane happens on Wednesday July 1, with the swimming competition taking place at the Wales National Pool on Thursday July 2.

Swansea Council’s special events team organises the event.

Nigel Jones, the council’s Special Events Manager, said: “This event, now in its 35th year, has considerably grown in stature and popularity since its inception. Participants include juniors, primary school children, secondary school children and adult social groups. There are competitions to suit all ages and abilities.

“We also place a strong emphasis on the social side of the overall event. This year will include ten-pin bowling, beach sports, boccia and a live music evening. We encourage anyone who takes part in the day to come along in the evening to socialise and talk about their competitions.

“Application forms are now available, so we’d urge anyone who is interested to get in touch.”

Swansea Council’s sports development team and young ambassadors will also be on hand to help with running the event this year. Fully accessible accommodation and meals are available at Swansea University.
