SOME of the biggest names in music will be performing in Swansea this summer on the longest day of the year.
It’s now been confirmed that Alfie Boe, Rebecca Ferguson, Collabro and Sophie Evans will be taking to the stage at Singleton Park on Sunday June 21.
The Summer in Singleton concert, being hosted by Mal Pope, takes place the day after Paolo Nutini performs at the same venue.
Tickets go on general sale from 9am on Friday (April 17) at www.orchardentertainment.co.uk and www.seetickets.com
Summer in Singleton is promoted by the award-winning Orchard group, Wales’ biggest independent music promoter, who brought the Kings of Leon and JLS to the Liberty Stadium in previous years.
Orchard director Pablo Janczur said: “This is a stellar line-up with broad family appeal we’ve pulled together for Swansea on the longest weekend of the summer. We’ve got Paolo Nutini on the Saturday, and Alfie and friends on the Sunday to provide some top class entertainment in the lovely setting of Singleton Park, so we hope people bring along a blanket to sit on and have a great day out.”
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “This weekend of fantastic live music is one of the highlights of our new Enjoy Swansea events programme. It’s a vote of confidence in Swansea as a leading city of events that we’ve been able to work in such close partnership with The Orchard Media and Events Group to bring live musicians of this quality to a stunning setting like Singleton Park. The diversity of the performers over the two days will appeal to a range of different musical tastes.”
Headliner Alfie Boe is the biggest selling British tenor who led the cast of Les Miserables and stole the show at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace.
Rebecca Ferguson was runner-up in the seventh series of The X Factor. Her debut album, Heaven, which she co-wrote, went to number three in the charts.
Collabro is the five-piece musical theatre boy band who won the eighth series of Britain’s Got Talent last year.
Wales’ own favourite Sophie Evans is a multi-talented singer, actress and performer, with West End experience as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
