Following the recent announcement from Carmarthenshire County Council that a trial of Free Parking in Llanelli Town Center will soon be underway. Plaid Cymru’s Westminster Candidate Vaughan Williams said:
I cannot understate how absolutely delighted I am that the motion “This Council acknowledges the current challenges facing Llanelli Town Centre and to show its support for local businesses and traders, to generate footfall within the Town Centre and compete with out of town retail parks, request the Executive Board to implement a 6 month trial of 2 hour free parking in Council car parks in Llanelli Town Centre has passed.
This is a great victory for our town. While I fully except that passing this motion alone will not in itself save the town centre – it is a great starting point that we can use as a springboard. Our 650 signature petition is still with the Council too and I would like to thank everyone for showing their support. Together lets continue to move the town forward. Let’s build a strong future for our Town Centre.
