Conservatives in government always claim to be cleaning up Labour’s economic mess. The Llanelli Conservative Association took a more literal approach this weekend, organising a litter pick up in the town centre.

The event was arranged by Llanelli Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Selaine Saxby, who explained why they had done so: “Many residents have mentioned the issue of rubbish to us around town so we thought we would get on and do something about it.”

“The town centre itself was not too bad, but with the wind, rubbish was blowing in from elsewhere around town. There were a huge number of cigarette butts on pavements and in doorways. It is disappointing people cannot walk a few steps further and pop butts in the bin”

The team received a hostile response from the TUSC, Conservative Association Chair, state school educated, Victoria Pratt was told by the TUSC representatives in town that she was an Eton educated toff taking away someone’s job. Victoria said of the incident: “There is no shortage of litter around Llanelli for paid council employees to clear up. It is staggering the attitude of the TUSC towards voluntary work and women in general. Carmarthenshire County Council were delighted we were arranging the litter pick up and we plan to repeat it after the general election”
