A man has been fined by the council for dropping litter after being reported by a member of the public.
He was seen throwing a plastic drinks bottle out of a car window in the Heol Brown area of Tycroes near Ammanford.
The witness provided a written statement to the council’s environmental enforcement unit.
Enforcement officers were able to identify the offender and he has been issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 for the offence.
Failure to pay could result in prosecution in the magistrates court and a fine of up to £2,500.
The council is actively encouraging residents to help catch offenders. Offences can be reported online via i-Local, by email or by telephone.
Director of Environment Christina Harrhy said: “I would like to thank the member of the public for providing the information that has helped us to catch the offender.
“Throwing litter from a vehicle is a criminal offence and we are urging people to report offenders so that we can take action.
“It is important that residents give us as much information as possible such as the date and time, the location of the offence and the vehicle registration number.
“By working together we can clean up Carmarthenshire.”
Report offences online at i-Local; alternatively email Direct@Carmarthenshire.gov.uk or call 01267 234567.
