A record-breaking crowd made their way to the Millennium Stadium on Saturday afternoon for what was a fantastic afternoon of Regional rugby where West really was best!
After the Ospreys secured victory over Cardiff Blues in the opening clash Scarlets went on to secure a 10-29 bonus-point victory over Newport Gwent Dragons and in doing so kept the race for top six in the Guinness PRO12 well and truly alive.
Scarlets Head Coach said after the victory; âWeâre happy to get 5 points clearly after Edinburgh got the same yesterday. There were parts of the first half we werenât happy with. We scored a couple of good tries just before half time, which was important for us.
âThen second half everything we asked for the boys delivered. We wanted a fast start and to score first. We achieved that and then scored again and we really had the Dragons in catch up mode from that point.â
Scarlets have a free weekend, as the finals of the Champions and Challenge Cup take place, before welcoming Cardiff Blues to Parc y Scarlets on Sunday 10th May in the last home game of the season. Pivac went on to say: âClearly there are some work-ons from that game but there were really good aspects for us too.â Â Scarlets have moved in to sixth position after securing victory but Edinburgh and Connacht are still very much hot on our heels. Pivac concluded: âWeâd be very happy to get there [top six]. All teams want to be there for obvious reasons. Â âI think we have to look at the three draws we had; weâd done enough against some quality opposition to get the results but just didnât quite finish them off so it will be frustrating if we donât make it but it is in our own hands.
âWeâve got two games to go and we need to build on this performance, not think ahead passed Blues now â thatâs our focus.â
