A carnival themed party returns to Pembrey Country Park next month and promises to be even bigger and better than last year.

Huge crowds are expected to come together for The Big Lunch event, funded by the National Lottery, on Saturday, June 6.

During the day visitors can enjoy entertainment including dancing, workshops, zumba, yoga, arts and crafts and parades whilst eating their packed lunch.

The event starts at 11am and entry into the park is £5 or four time credits. People will also have the opportunity to spend their vouchers on some activities, as well as earning time credits by taking part in litter picks and volunteering work.

To avoid disappointment camping enthusiasts are being urged to book their pitch early.

The council’s countryside and parks manager, Rory Dickinson said: “Last year over 700 people joined in. The whole day has a real sense of community spirit with activities for all ages. The message is simple bring a picnic and join in the fun!”

The national scheme from the Eden Project aims to bring people from across communities together to share stories, skills, and experiences.

In its seventh year, the special lunch saw over 120,000 people take part in events across Wales last year — with 4.83 million people across the UK dining.

Event organiser, Rachel Gegeshidze of Carmarthenshire Time Credits said: “It’s a huge privilege to be part of such an incredible day. The whole day is put on by the community for the community.”
