Scarlets captain Ken Owens says his side’s thought process doesn’t change after yesterday’s victory against Cardiff Blues at Parc y Scarlets – they will be heading to Treviso looking for the victory.

Scarlets need two points from the last round of the season to be certain of a top six finish and place in next season’s European Rugby Champions Cup campaign.

Speaking after the game captain Ken Owens was resolute in the need to head to Treviso to secure the victory. He said; “Whatever happened today [Sunday] we knew we’d have to go to Treviso and get the win.

“Our thought process doesn’t change at all. We want to go there and get the victory.”

Sunday’s Welsh derby clash was a tight encounter with both Patchell and Priestland exchanging penalties taking the score to 9-6 early on in the second half before Owens sealed the victory for the Scarlets with a 65th minute try.

Commenting on the game itself Owens said; “It was a particularly hard game, as derbies always are. The Blues have had quite a disappointing season but they turned up and had star players right across the park.

“We’re happy with the four points in what was a tough derby clash. It was nice to cross the line for the try – the pack showed great determination and perserverance for that try and it secured the win for us. It showed confidence in the pack to keep going for the try.”

Scarlets take on Benetton Treviso on Saturday 17th May, kick-off 3pm in the final round of the 2014-15 Guinness PRO12 season.
