IDAHOT – International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

To mark the International Day Against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia (IDAHOT) on Sunday, May 17, Dyfed Powys Police is showing support and commitment to equality and diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff and community members.

Staff members will highlight their support by wearing the ‘Zero Tolerance Stop Homophobia’ Orange IDAHOT Awareness Ribbons. The ribbon is something that will be worn to mark the day, but staff can continue wearing them on a daily basis to show their ongoing support of the message of a zero tolerance approach to homophobia.

Angharad Lewis, the Force’s Equality and Diversity Manager, said: “The ribbon symbolises a very positive message and strong illustration of commitment to the wider equality and diversity agenda across the Force and the communities it serves. Hate crime will not be tolerated in Dyfed Powys and I urge people not to suffer in silence, please report it to police.”

The rainbow flag will also be flown from Police Headquarters as well as from four other police stations across the Dyfed and Powys area to mark IDAHOT and to signal the presence of active anti-homophobia and transphobia policies within the Force.
