Young people across Carmarthenshire have taken place in an event to raise awareness of bullying and homophobia.

The Shadows project was run by Carmarthenshire Youth Council and the county council’s policy department.

Its aim was to:

  • Raise awareness of bullying
  • Launch the county council’s bullying survey
  • Celebrate International Homophobia Awareness Day
  • Encourage people to sign up to the #NoBystanders pledge

Brittany Bingham, aged 17, who is Vice Chair of Carmarthenshire Youth Council said: “Bullying should not be kept in the shadows and people need to stop being bystanders. “The Youth Council is delighted to be working with the County Council on this project and launching the bullying survey as we are looking forward to seeing what young people have to say.”

To have your say in the survey go to I-Local on the county council website. The survey runs until June 17, and information collated will be presented to the new Anti Bullying Forum and will lead the development of guidance for schools.
