Plans for a major investment in Five Roads School have been shown to parents and the community.
The scheme includes a new extension plus refurbishment of the existing building in Heol Hen.
The plans are part of Carmarthenshire County Council’s Modernising Education Programme, which aims to give every child in the county access to high quality accommodation and facilities.
The programme is categorised into bands according to criteria, and Five Roads is in Band B which is due to start in 2019.
However, officers want to be prepared so that the final scheme has been approved and is ready to start as soon as funding becomes available.
The MEP is funded jointly by the council and the Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools initiative.
Local county councillor Jim Jones said: “Although the work is some way off, we want to share our ideas and plans with the school and with the community.
“The Council is in the process of designing a new extension as well as refurbishment works at Ysgol Pum Heol, and would like to share its vision for the school before submitting the plans for planning permission.”
