TOWN’S ‘IT’S A KNOCKOUT’ FESTIVAL OF SPORT

COMPETITORS with disabilities from all parts of South Wales will be talking part in a Festival of Sport at Llanelli’s People’s Park and Coleshill Centre on Saturday, June 6.

COMPETITORS with disabilities from all parts of South Wales will be talking part in a Festival of Sport at Llanelli’s People’s Park and Coleshill Centre on Saturday, June 6.

And guest of honour for the presentation ceremony will be Scarlets, Wales and British Lion rugby sporting hero Phil Bennett.

Llanelli PHAB is association with Access 4 Life – a charitable organisation for people with learning and physical disabilities – are expecting more than 100 competitors for the event running between 9.30am and 5.30pm.

Competitors are drawn from Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil and Penarth with all the field and track events taking place on People’s Park.

Later in the afternoon there will be an “It’s A Knockout” style competition full of fun and laughter and a good soaking almost guaranteed for those taking park.

Carmarthenshire council executive board member for social care and health, Cllr Jane Tremlett said the Festival of Sport was a fun annual event  that actively promoted health and wellbeing by ensuring the quality of life for those taking part was enhanced.

She said: “Being physically active plays and essential role in ensuring the development of positive outcomes and creates a sense of involvement and achievement and pride.”
