Celebrate energy diversity

Pembrokeshire will be celebrating EU Sustainable Energy Week this month.

The Week – June 15th to June 19th – aims to encourage and showcase  sustainable energy projects across the European Union.

To mark the Week Pembrokeshire County Council and partners have organised a series of events highlighting the diversity of energy developments in the county.

All the events are open to the public and most are free but they do need to be booked in advance.

They include:

Tuesday 16th June 10am-2pm – Pembrokeshire Bio Energy / PBE Fuels / PBESCO New House, Canaston Bridge

An opportunity to visit a local business which has developed expertise in the production and installation of biomass products and boilers – from pellet production from local timber to energy supply options.

Wednesday 17th June 10am-12 midday Milford Leisure Centre Combined Heat and Power Plant Milford Haven Leisure Centre

An opportunity to see two recently installed 15 kW Combined Heat and Power devices.  There will be the opportunity to discuss with the Pembrokeshire County Council Energy Manager and Leisure Centre Manager about the difference the unit has made to energy consumption and the challenges and opportunities of considering the technology for commercial installation.

Wednesday 17th June 2pm – 4pm Marine Energy Community Information Session Pater Hall, Pembroke Dock

Representatives from Marine Energy Pembrokeshire and Tidal Energy Limited (TEL) will talk to people about tidal and wave energy plans and projects in and around the waters of Pembrokeshire. TEL will talk in detail about their specific project Deltastream. At 4pm there will be a visit to the TEL Deltastream device located in Port of Pembroke.

Thursday 18th June 10am-12 midday Liddeston Ridge Photo Voltaic Site Cedar Court, Milford Haven

An opportunity to visit the Port of Milford Haven’s 5 megawatt, 20,000 panel photo voltaic array at Liddeston Ridge with the Port of Milford Haven’s Energy Manager. Meet at Cedar Court, Milford Haven.

Friday 19th June 10am-3pm Newport and Cilgwyn Renewable Energy walking tour

Join a walking tour covering different technologies and buildings and lifestyles. The tour covers wind, solar X2, hydro, heat pumps, passive house, off grid and on, low impact self-build, ancient building renovation, electric car clubs etc. Cost £10 per person.
