BUDDING family history hunters have a chance to learn how to trace their family this month at West Glamorgan Archives in Swansea Civic Centre.
Each session is designed to give participants practical hands-on experience using a wide range of archive resources. Subjects covered will include the census returns from 1841 to 1911, parish registers, historic maps and Poor Law records.
Swansea Council is behind the workshops.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “These workshops offer a practical introduction to the most useful resources available in the archives for family historians. We want to make more people aware that researching your family tree in the archives is a great way to keep mentally active and discover more about your own history in the process.”
Three free workshops will be held on Monday afternoons on June 8, June 15 and June 22. Each workshop starts at 3pm and lasts an hour and a half. There is no need to book in advance.
