Pembrokeshire County Council has agreed its main objectives for the year ahead.
Its Improvement Plan for 2015 – 2016 was agreed at a meeting of full Council last month.
The plan outlines five main objectives for the Council over the coming year.
They include:
- supporting schools to improve children and young people’s education results especially at GCSE level
- building the capacity of schools to support vulnerable children
- regenerating town centres and helping to make Pembrokeshire’s economy more competitive
- reorganising adult care services to improve efficiency
- taking a co-ordinated approach to tackling poverty.
The Council’s Deputy Leader, Councillor Keith Lewis, said the Authority had been through some significant changes over the course of the past year and was committed to continuing discussions with communities to re-build trust.
He warned, however, that due to spending cuts the Council would also need to re-think how it delivers services.
He went on:”We aim to protect front line services as far as we are able through the savings already identified. We will use this year to involve local residents to develop a more radical approach for the future”
The annual Improvement Plan complements the Single Integrated Plan (SIP) – the County’s most important strategic document.
The SIP is compiled by the County Council and partner organisations such as the police and health board.
Copies of the Improvement Plan can be found at Council offices across the County or by logging onto the Council’s website: www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk
