More than 95 per cent of Welsh Government’s Programme for Government commitments have been delivered, or are on track to be delivered First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones said today.
Speaking on the day the final Programme for Government annual report was published, Carwyn Jones said:
“Back in 2011 we put forward the most ambitious and comprehensive government programme since devolution. I’m absolutely delighted to say that even in the toughest financial circumstances, we’ve delivered for the people of Wales.”
The Programme for Government includes 547 separate commitments covering the breadth of services the Welsh Government is responsible for. All of the flagship Five for a Fairer Future commitments have been met in full. This includes:
- Doubling Flying Start childcare provision;
- 500 new Community Support Officers on the streets of Wales;
- Longer GP opening hours;
- An increase of spending on Welsh school by at least 1 per cent above the changes in the block grant from the UK government in each of the five years of this Assembly;
- The creation of Jobs Growth Wales.
The First Minister continued:
“Health and health services; educational attainment; growth and jobs; supporting children, families and deprived communities has been at the heart of everything this government has been working hard to achieve in the last five years.
“The ethos of this government is that no one in society should be left behind and that everyone is entitled to an equal chance to succeed. By delivering our ambitious Programme for Government I truly believe we’ve set the strong foundations for a stronger, fairer, healthier and more prosperous Wales.”
