Neath Port Talbot residents are being urged to take up composting this summer. Neath Port Talbot Councilās Waste Team are offering residents the last chance to purchase their home compost bins. The team will not be restocking the bins after they have been sold out.
As part of āRecycle Weekā, the team is eager to remind residents of the benefits of composting to save money and helping the environment. Creating your own compost can help to avoid the cost of buying it and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill.
With summer well underway, this is a great opportunity for residents to purchase a compost bin in time to recycle any additional garden waste.
The bins can only be purchased by Neath Port Talbot residents and are restricted to a maximum of two bins per household. They are available in two sizes, 330 litres at Ā£14.00 eachĀ or 220 litres at Ā£13.00 each.
Councillor Ali Thomas OBE, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said:
āThe Council is fully committed to meeting its recycling targets and reduce the amount of landfill waste. Composting provides benefits to both the council and local residents. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about composting this summer, to purchase a bin while they are still in stockā.
Payments for the composting bins can be made by phoning the Contact Centre on 01639 686868 or in person at one of the Councilās One Stop Shops. The bins will need to be collected from one of the Councilās amenity sites.
