Pontardawe Arts centre is offering one budding theatre director the chance of a lifetime.
The successful candidate will receive a bursary of £5,000 and a vocational training opportunity to work on three projects produced by the Arts Centre within an eight month period. There will also be the possibility of further creative activity being developed at the centre for that individual.
During the eight months the young director will gain invaluable skills, being mentored by three established directors on projects that have been specifically chosen for the breadth of experience they will offer. They will observe and assist the directors of the classic ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, the comedy drama ‘Hubert and Humble’ and ‘Pontardawe Arts Centre’s Script Slam’ a series of short pieces of new writing.
Angie Dickinson, Area Artistic Manager for Neath Port Talbot Theatres
“We greatly value the support that the Arts Council of Wales funding is providing for this project. The aim is to support and encourage the next generation of creative artist. We are looking for someone to invest in and the Award will give the successful candidate the chance to gain invaluable experience in a supportive environment”
The deadline for applications is 13 July with interviews scheduled for 23 July. Applicants should send a cv, with a covering statement on what they would hope to achieve by taking part in the residency to Angie at a.dickinson@npt.gov.uk. Evidence of experience within the arts sector, although not necessarily full directorial responsibility, should also be provided.
