Historians from the Llanteg and Amroth areas have discovered more about the culture, history and heritage of their localities in a behind-the-scenes tour of Pembrokeshire Archives and Local Studies.
The Llanteg Local History Society and Amroth & District History Group viewed some of Pembrokeshire’s archival heritage dating back to 1272 and discussed many original archival items relating to their local areas.
David Llewellyn, Archivist for Outreach and Education, said he was delighted to welcome the groups to the Archives, which is located in Prendergast, Haverfordwest.
He said; “It’s always a real pleasure for us to share knowledge of the superb archival treasures here, how we look after them and how easily accessible they are.”
As well as speaking about the work of the Archive and Local Studies service and its importance, he took the groups on a visit to the conservation area to view and discuss the significant work done there with conservation staff member Margaret Brooks.
The tour also took in the repository block, which has more than 132,000 items of original material relating to Pembrokeshire’s culture and history.
