The Welsh Government has announced the creation of a special dedicated support line to help those returning home from the recent terror attacks in Tunisia.
The Wales Tunisian Support Line, which is available from today (Thurs 2nd July), will provide a confidential listening and emotional support service for Welsh citizens returning from Tunisia or for people with friends or relatives caught up in last weekās events in Sousse.
The number – Freephone: 0800 107 0900 or text ‘help’ to 81066 – will be manned by trained staff from the Community Advice and Listening Line (CALL) service and will be available 24-hours a day, seven-days-a-week, for the foreseeable future. The helpline will also direct those people who need fast-track access to more specialist trauma support to the most appropriate services.
Health and Social Services Minister Mark Drakeford said:
āThe world has been united in its shock at the horrendous attack in Tunisia. It is our duty to make sure we are ready to offer any assistance we can as we deal with the aftermath of this tragedy.
āThis new helpline will provide round-the-clock access to trained staff who can provide support and advice to people who have been affected by recent events in Tunisia. For those who are looking for more specialised support to help them deal with what they experienced and witnessed, it will guide them to the most appropriate Welsh NHS services.ā
