Children aged between four and 11 across Pembrokeshire can become ‘Record Breakers’ this summer as libraries across the county take part in the Summer Reading Challenge.

The annual challenge encourages children to read six books during the summer holidays, with plenty of rewards and fun along the way.

This year’s ‘Record Breakers’ theme promises children a journey into the weird, wonderful and often wacky world of records.

Children can sign up for free to take part in the challenge at any library in Pembrokeshire.

There’s also a range of free story-time and activity sessions taking place at several local libraries.

Dan Anthony, author of the popular ‘Rugby Zombies’ series, will visit a number of local libraries for sessions on world records and cartoon drawing.

Local libraries will also be getting in to the ‘Record Breakers’ spirit by attempting their own records, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Guinness Book of Records.

Fishguard Library is attempting to build a paper chain to stretch around the entire library, and Pembroke Dock Library will be constructing a huge Hungry Caterpillar!
