Sandy Water Park snack bar has green technology all wrapped up.

Bar owners at the council run park has ditched its polystyrene cups and food trays in favour of eco friendly wrappings.

As well as the bio degradable packaging all cooking oil, milk cartons and bottle tops are sent for recycling.

The move is part of helping to protect the environment at the beauty spot, and also links in with the council’s environmental vision.

Snack bar owner Leanne Morgan is no stranger to the catering business and is the daughter of Kevin Morgan, former owner of the ‘coke can’.

She said: “It’s vitally important to protect the environment as best we can as it can take 100 years for non biodegradable wrappings to break down. By introducing simple measures can make a whole world of difference.”

The snack bar, located in the car park, has proved hugely popular since moving onto the Millennium Coastal Path last year. Opening times are Mon-Fri and Sun 8-4.30pm and Sat 9-4.30pm.

The council’s Millennium Coastal Park ranger, Emyr Richards said: “This is great news and it just goes to show how many ways people can make a difference in their community and become more environmentally friendly.”
