Residents in Carmarthen are being urged to go along to a Neighbourhood Advice Day for information on services, activities for the children, refreshments and free giveaways.

The event is being held on Friday, July 24at the Community Education Centre in Furnace Road (near St Peter’s car park) between 10am and 3pm.

It has been organised by the councils’ recycling team who will be on hand with lots of information on recycling, as well as replacement food bins and blue bags for those that need them.

There will also be advice on a range of other services including fire safety, housing, support for older people and more.

As the event is being held during the school summer holidays there will be lots of fun activities for the children as well as refreshments and giveaways.

Executive Board Member for Technical Services Cllr Hazel Evans said: “We will be holding a number of these Neighbourhood Advice Days across the county with the first being held in Carmarthen.

“Everyone is welcome to come along, have a cuppa, and speak to our recycling officers and other service providers for advice on a wide range of issues in a relaxed environment.”

It is hoped the event will help to raise awareness on why it is important to recycle our rubbish and encourage people to do more.

Cllr Evans added: “We are now recycling around 60% of our rubbish which is fantastic but I know with a little more effort and thought, we can recycle even more.”

The council must achieve a recycling rate of 70% by 2024/25 or could face large financial penalties from Welsh Government.
