Carmarthenshire libraries are bestsellers when it comes to large print book displays, and that’s official!
In a national competition with publishers Ulverscroft, the county service was singled out as the best for its displays and awarded books worth £1,000.
The council’s libraries are the heart of communities providing books and free access to a wide range of information. Nearly one million visitors went through our doors last year.
The council’s libraries manager, Mark Jewell said: “We’re thrilled to win this national competition as there were a lot of worthy entries from across the UK. We are so proud of our libraries in Carmarthenshire and what they have to offer.”
Members have access to half a million books, as well as a range of free services including fiction, non-fiction, comics, graphic novels and talking books, homework help – online and in the library, e-books and e-magazines, computer use and internet access. Stacks of newspapers, magazines, CDs and DVDs to keep you entertained for hours. There is also free public access to computers and Wi-Fi available at all libraries.
Additionally a popular family history service is available at Llanelli and Carmarthen with some libraries playing host to clubs, games, events, activities and classes.
