In a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 14 July 2015, Members approved the amended ‘Strategic Outline Programme Request for Change’ to be submitted to the Welsh Government for approval, meaning all the work required to be undertaken on Tregaron 3-16 School to be included within Band A funding.

Councillor Hag Harries, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Learning Services said: “Ceredigion County Council are required to submit a ‘Strategic Outline Programme Request for Change’ to the Welsh Government in order for the project to escalate to band A to include the Primary and Secondary element of the school.”

The document includes a programme for a new primary school build and refurbishment of the secondary building at Ysgol Henry Richard.

Councillor Hag Harries added: “There is a pressing need for the building work on the primary element of the 3-16 school in Tregaron to begin, as the conditions of both sites at Tregaron are deemed to be unsatisfactory and graded D. This is subject to identifying additional match funding of £1.25m, that the full project be included within band A.”

The Council approved a 3-16 School in Tregaron on 18 June 2014, with the school opening as a 3-16 School on three separate sites from September 2014.
