A woman has been fined £75 for failing to clean up after her dog in Llanelli.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol when they saw the offence being committed on the grassed area off Ann Street and Columbia Row.
Failure to pay the fixed penalty notice could result in prosecution in the magistrates court where the maximum fine is £1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said the authority had a zero tolerance approach towards dog fouling.
“Anyone caught failing to clean up after their dog in a public place will be fined. Dog mess can have serious health implications, as well as being extremely unpleasant if you step in it.”
Residents are being urged to report offenders as part of the ‘Dog Watch’ scheme. Information given can also be used to target specific areas.
“By working together we can target irresponsible dog owners and clean up Carmarthenshire for the benefit of residents and visitors,” added Cllr Jones.
To report offenders visit i-Local or call Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.
