A woman has been fined for throwing a crisp packet out of a car window near the entrance to Pembrey Country Park.

Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the area at the time of the offence.

The woman was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75.

If she doesn’t pay it, she will be prosecuted in the magistrates court where the maximum fine is £2,500.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Throwing litter from a vehicle is a criminal offence.  It is a filthy habit which makes our local environment unsightly and unwelcoming.

“We are urging members of the public to help us catch those responsible by reporting offenders. It is important that witnesses note the time, date and location of the offence and record the registration number of the vehicle.

“By working together we can clean up Carmarthenshire for good.”
