A Milford Haven community’s missing cycle link has been filled in!
Work to complete a missing section of Hubberston’s shared-use path has recently been completed.
The new shared-use path (SUP) links up with existing paths to now form a continuous route from Victoria Bridge to the Three Crowns public house.
To carry out the project, which lies on the Glebelands side of the Dale Road, 200 metres of roadway has been realigned and new parking bays created.
In addition two raised crossing points have also been installed.
“The new pathway improves safety for both motorists and pedestrians,” said Councillor Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Transportation.
“While the raised crossing points will help pedestrians cross the main road and reduce traffic speeds.”
Hubberston Councillor Vivien Stoddart said she was pleased to see the ‘missing link’ work completed.
“The work has been so much more than the cycle track, with welcome parking bays created at Glebelands; very effective traffic calming measures on the busy Dale Road; and improved safety for pedestrians,” she said.
“I thank the Council’s project officer Jonny Sutton who liaised so effectively with the residents; the forbearance of householders and motorists, and the considerate contractors, who did all they could to minimise the temporary disruption.”
Supervised by Pembrokeshire County Council and Atkins Ltd, contractors for the scheme were Evan Pritchard Contractors.
A final section of the path is due to be upgraded next March.
