Bws Bach service routes in Llanelli have been reconfigured to accommodate Ynyslas, Llwynhendy, passengers from Monday, August 3.
Residents there had been disappointed First Cymru withdrew services last year because they found the route uneconomic.
The current Bws Bach service which runs between Penygraig and the Bus Station via Parc Pemberton and Parc Trostre will be diverted to serve Ynyslas, running through Heol Hen – Ynyslas – Heol Maesarddafen (the route taken by the former First Cymru 111 service).
Council Executive Board Member for Transport Cllr Hazel Evans said: “I am delighted our transport team has forged this concession with the bus company to re-establish bus services to serve the people of Ynyslas.
“Whilst the company continue to stress that they will not be able to reinstate the former service, they have agreed to make this change to the Bws Bach routing to serve the area where the buses were withdrawn.”
Local member Cllr Sharen Davies said she had expressed her “huge concern” to the bus company when the Ynyslas service was lost.
“The council’s transport team deserve praise for restoring some hope with this lifeline bus service for the community,” she said.
The new service will run on Mondays to Saturdays and will run from Ynyslas at 9.49am and 12.24pm to Parc Pemberton, Parc Trostre and the Bus Station. Return journeys start from the Bus Station at 12.05pm and 2.50 pm.
