Tourists staying in a Carmarthen hotel are being given a taste of some of the produce available to buy in the market.

In a pilot, Carmarthen Market is working in partnership with the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel on Spilman Street in a bid to promote the market to holidaymakers.

During their stay coach parties are given Welshcakes and Barabrith which are available to buy in the market as well as a copy of the market map.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member responsible for the markets, Cllr David Jenkins, said: “It’s good to see the market working in partnership with a business such as the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel to promote the market to tourists during their stay in the town.”

Nicola Jaycock, Trainee Duty Manager at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel added: “We’ve had great feedback from our guests with many asking where they can get the Welshcakes and Barabrith from and asking for directions to the market.”

Carmarthen Indoor Market is open six days a week.
