Detectives investigating the disappearance of Alec Warburton, 59, who was last seen at around midday on Friday 31st July are now treating the investigation as a murder enquiry.
Mr Warburton was reported missing from his home on Vivian Road shortly after midday on Sunday 2nd August. He has not been seen since.
Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen Mr Warburton since Friday 31st July to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Paul Hurley said:
“We are particularly keen to speak to David Ellis aged 40, who also lives at the same address. I believe he may have information which will help us to understand what has happened to Alec Warburton.
“This car was driven to north Wales on Saturday 1st August and we want to hear from anyone who may have seen it or David Ellis at any time between 2.00pm and midnight that day between Caersws and Bettws y Coed.
“The car returned to Swansea during the following morning. We know it was used in the Swansea area until 4th August and it has not been located since.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Alec Warburton at any time after midday on Friday 31st July to contact us.
“I also want to hear from anyone who may have seen the green Peugeot 205 or David Ellis in and around the Bettws y Coed area on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 1st August or in the Swansea area since the following day. Can I ask local residents to check in your street to see if this car has been parked nearby. If so, please contact us.
“Finally I want to appeal directly to David Ellis. We want to find out what has happened to Alec Warburton. I believe that you have valuable information which will help us in our enquiries. Please contact us at the Incident Room on 01792 562732 quoting occurrence: 1500280779”
