Meet Arwel and Ava, our sport and leisure mascots.

The loveable duo are the face of the council’s new Actif Club for youngsters aged 8-12 years.

Already they’re proving a huge hit with children and parents alike after taking to the streets meeting and greeting.

The holiday club has attracted much attention since its launch last month. A wide range of exciting new activities including laser tag, splash and slide, fun floats, cheerleading, lifesaving, circuit challenges and treasure hunts have been keeping children entertained for hours.

In addition snorkelling, mini waterpolo, rookie lifeguarding, fun relays, tri-golf, netball, hockey, football and racquet sports are on offer.

Children have also been treated to visits from police and Swansea City Football Club.

The fun packed programme, which is available to view online, is delivered by our activity leaders and includes themed days from wacky Wednesday to odd socks days.

Executive board member for regeneration and leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “The new Actif Club scheme has been very popular with the youngsters and it’s great to see them having fun and keeping active the same time. The new online system is an added benefit and allows parents to see what activities their children can take part in.”

The club operates during the school holidays (incl half terms) and is open on a Monday to Friday (exc BH) from 8.30am to 5pm. There are limited spaces available so people are urged to book early to avoid disappointment. You can book online at www.actifsirgar.co.uk/children or call Llanelli on 01554 774757, Carmarthen 01267 224700 or Ammanford 01269 594517.
