A LLANELLI man has been fined £75 for leaving rubbish bags in the rear lane of Wern Road.
He was issued with the fixed penalty notice by council environmental enforcement officers.
Failure to pay could lead to court prosecution where the maximum fine is £2,500.
Executive Board Member for environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said he hoped this would act as a warning to others.
“We are continually getting complaints about the state of the back lanes but as soon as we clean them up, it is not long before they are back in a state again,” he said.
“The only way people will learn is if we take action against them. Unfortunately there is a small minority of people who do not care. The only way we are going to clean up the back lanes for good is with the help of residents.”
