HISTORIC Oystermouth Castle will come alive with the sounds of outdoor theatre over coming days.

Performances of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny’ are being held at the attraction on Thursday August 13 and Friday August 14.

Swansea Council is behind the fun.

Quantum Theatre will perform ‘The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny’ in the castle grounds during the afternoon of Thursday August 13 at 2pm. They’ll also be performing ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ on the evenings of both Thursday August 13 and Friday August 14 at 7.30pm.

Other children’s theatre will take place on the afternoon of Friday August 14 at 2pm with The Performance Factory’s production of ‘Charlotte’s Web’ that’s based on E.B White’s iconic novel and film.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “These four great performances form part of our Enjoy Swansea Bay events programme that’s got something for everyone.

“Outdoor theatre has been very popular at Oystermouth Castle since the attraction re-opened following extensive refurbishment works. It’s an ideal location for events of this nature because of the views over Swansea Bay in such an historic setting.

“These events will be memorable occasions for anyone who goes along to enjoy the culture and children’s entertainment over coming days.”

Tickets are only £4.50 in advance and £5.50 on the day for children’s afternoon theatre. They’re £9 in advance and £12 on the day for evening performances. Family tickets in advance and concessions are also available.

Performances will still go ahead in rainy weather. They’ll only be cancelled in the event of extreme weather.

Any updates will be posted from the Enjoy Swansea and Swansea Council Twitter accounts.  Event news will also be shared on Enjoy Swansea’s Facebook page.
