THREE people have been fined for failing to clean up after their dogs.

A man and a woman were issued with fixed penalty notices for £75 by council environmental enforcement officers at Dafen pond.

A man was also fined for a dog fouling offence off Rhes Gwaith Tyn and Lower Trostre Road in Llanelli.

Failure to pay could lead to prosecution in the magistrates court and a maximum fine of £1,000.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones is now reminding dog owners to carry bags with them at all times.

“Anyone who fails to clean up after their dogs will be fined,” he said. “Our officers carry out patrols all over the county.

“Dog mess is not only very unpleasant if you step in it but, more significantly, it can have serious health implications.”

Residents are being urged to report offenders as part of the ‘Dog Watch’ scheme, visit ilocal.gov.uk and click on report or call Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.
