A TOTAL of 131 food waste bins were handed out by recycling officers in Ammanford.
Officers were in Quay Street to raise awareness of recycling and to give information and advice.
They also handed out extra blue bags and new or replacement food bins to those that needed them either because they had not one before or it had broken.
Some 74 green food bins and 57 small brown kitchen food bins were issued on the day.
Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “It is great to see that so many people went along to speak to officers.
“Recycling and bin collections are an important service for residents and it is vital we recycle as much as we can.
“In particular we need to think about recycling items not only from the kitchen but from other rooms in the home too and we can really make a difference.”
Most people regularly recycle items like plastic milk bottles and glass jars, but it’s just as easy to recycle many other items from the bathroom, living room and even the bedroom.
Empty aerosol cans, plastic coat hangers, toilet roll tubes, toothpaste boxes, shampoo/shower gel bottles, bottle tops, receipts and envelopes can all be recycled in blue bags.
