RESIDENTS from the Morfa area of Llanelli went along to a Neighbourhood Advice Day organised by the council’s recycling team.
Held at the Morfa Social and Athletic Club, there was lots of information on a range of services, as well as fun and activities, refreshments and free giveaways.
Householders were able to pick up extra blue bags and new or replacement food bins from the recycling team and Llanelli library staff held a story time session for the children.
Care and Repair and Flying Start officers were also in attendance and there was advice from the fire service, the council’s road safety officers and the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Executive Board Member for Technical Services Cllr Hazel Evans said: “I am delighted people took advantage of this opportunity to go along and have a cuppa and a chat to our recycling officers and other service providers for advice on a wide range of issues in a relaxed environment.”
It is hoped the event will help to raise awareness on why it is important we recycle as much of our rubbish as possible.
The council is currently recycling approximately 60% but must achieve a recycling rate of 70% by 2024/25 or could face large financial penalties from Welsh Government.
