Communities First working in partnership with Llanelli Jobcentre Plus is delivering a series of sessions on preparing for Universal Credit in the coming months.
A pilot session took place in Llanelli JCP at the end of July where eight people attended to learn more about how Universal Credit may affect them in the very near future.
Universal Credit is to be introduced into Llanelli on October 26, 2015, for Single Claimants only. Participants gained a better understanding of what changes Universal Credit will bring and what action they need to take now, as well as gaining support around IT, banking and monthly budgeting.
The participants enjoyed the interactive session which includes videos and online modules to support a better understanding of Universal Credit. For further information on the sessions which are available throughout Communities First areas please call 01554 777850.
Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “In these austere times we are very appreciative of the staff working in Communities First areas to help and support people who are finding it difficult to live. This is to support them in managing the money they receive.”
