GCSE Successes In Ceredigion Schools

  • 74.1% ACHIEVE A*-C GRADES
  • A PASS RATE OF 99.5% (i.e. 99.5% achieve A*-G GRADES)​

The GSCE examination results published today by the WJEC indicate that very high standards are being maintained in the schools of Ceredigion. 99.5% of entries for WJEC examinations were graded A to G, with 25.3% of the entries achieving A* and A grades and 74.1% grades A* to C.

The following tables provide the figures for Ceredigion/ Wales:

County Councillor Hag Harries, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Education, stated: “Once again, our pupils have achieved outstanding success in their GCSE examinations, providing a strong foundation for their future studies, training or employment. We are celebrating over a quarter of our pupils achieving the acclaimed A and A* grades, which is significantly higher than the Welsh average. My warmest congratulations go to the pupils and my sincere thanks to all who have supported them to achieve these results.”

Eifion Evans, Strategic Director for Learning Services and Partnerships, added: “This year 63% of pupils achieved 5 or more good GSCEs including Language and Mathematics. I am extremely proud of the fact that Ceredigion is the only Authority in Wales to have exceeded 60% in this indicator for three consecutive years.These milestone achievements are the culmination of the hard work of our talented pupils along with the commitment of school leaders and teachers who tirelessly pursue the highest standards for all our pupils.”
