Residents in Newcastle Emlyn recycled more than seven tonnes of waste including 123 car tyres at a recent amnesty.
A further five tonnes of non-recyclable waste was also disposed of at the event held at the Mart car park.
Householders could also pick up replacement food bins and blue recycling bags and had the chance to buy half-price compost bins.
The waste and tyre amnesty was organised by the council’s recycling team to help combat fly-tipping and encourage residents to recycle.
Executive Board Member for Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “I am delighted so many people took advantage of this opportunity to dispose of their waste.
“I am told that 57% of all the waste taken along was recycled which not only contributes towards our recycling rate but also reduces the amount of rubbish going to landfill.”
