Carmarthenshire countryside is to benefit from improvement works after being awarded a grant.
Nearly £55k of works will be carried out to upgrade the Rights of Way network including footpaths and bridleways across the county.
It comes after the council was successful in securing funds from the Welsh Government under the Rights of Way Improvement Plan funding programme.
Some of the £54k distributed by Natural Resources Wales will be used to manufacture and install a new 10m tamperproof bridge in Llangennech which will provide a link to Trosserch Woods, a riverside walk and St Illtyd’s Walk.
Plans to improve signage and way marking are also underway and links to the coastal path in Laugharne will benefit from the scheme.
Leaflets on five County Walks – Llwynywormwood, Llansteffan, Drefach Velindre, Cwmdu and Llandovery – will also be revised and updated.
The work will be carried out by the council’s countryside team.
The council’s executive board member for leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “We’re delighted to have secured this money which will go towards enhancing our beautiful countryside and making it more accessible to the public. What better way to explore some of our breathtaking views than on foot.”
