Scarlets kick off their 2015-16 Guinness PRO12 campaign at Scotstoun Stadium next Saturday with a huge opening clash against reigning champions Glasgow Warriors, kick-off 5.15pm.

With a final pre-season warm up against Bedford Blues on Saturday an opportunity to blood young players and test the depth of the region’s squad head coach Wayne Pivac believes his side is well prepared for the season opener.

Speaking after the friendly at Llandovery’s Church Bank Pivac said; “We got what we wanted out of it. It was an opportunity, with no LV= Cup this year, to have a look at the next tier of players. If we get injuries throughout the year we may have call on some of them, we got a handle on where they’re at which was important.

“We didn’t pick up any injuries from the squad for Glasgow as we’d rested most of them.”

The Scarlets will be targeting a strong start to the 2015-16 campaign as they look to improve on last season’s sixth place finish.

Pivac went on to stay; “We’re going there to win, hence the amount of guys who have trained separately this week and didn’t partake today.

“That’s with a view of next week, they’ve had a couple of runs under their belts already. With Rugby World Cup the depth of our squad will be important. We needed to make sure the core of the squad were good to go for next week.”

Scarlets open their home campaign on Saturday 12th September, kick-off 3pm, against Ulster Rugby.
